Corey Lapell

Corey Lapell lives in Vancouver, Canada, where he writes stories about aliens, monsters, barbarians, alternate realities, fairy tales gone catastrophically wrong, and ordinary people making decisions that seemed reasonable several paragraphs earlier.

His fiction has appeared in anthologies from Wingless Dreamer and Raconteur Press. His nonfiction has appeared in the CrossFit Journal and elsewhere. Editors have therefore had multiple opportunities to stop him. They have failed.

When not writing, Corey owns a gym, lifts heavy objects, engages in competitive pajama cuddling, hits people recreationally, climbs ropes, hangs from gymnastics rings, and occasionally swings swords around. He has been practicing martial arts since 1980 and doing CrossFit since 2005, suggesting an inability to recognize when a phase has gone on too long.

He lives with his wife and son. Both have had ample opportunity to leave.

Corey gets up around four in the morning to write, an hour at which normal people are unconscious and Vancouver’s rival raccoon families are negotiating control of the neighborhood trash cans. This may explain some of his fiction.

Medical science has yet to establish a causal relationship.

Until a cure can be found, he continues to write.
